PAWS ALONG THE WAY

What would travel be without our dog-friends? From the very beginning, two dogs accompanied us on our expeditions: Arya (aka Pisia) and Minos (aka Jurek) — two nieogary*. Not hounds, but sighthounds — a Polish Greyhound (white) and a Greyhound (brindle). I also called them nieogary because they were creatures resistant to all forms of training, making foolish decisions throughout their lives — decisions that only made them even more adorable and impossible not to love with unconditional devotion.

On 19.08.2023, a new canine child joined our pack — Gustaw. He is an Australian Labradoodle in the purest form. We’re curious ourselves to see what he will grow into.

From the very beginning, we’ve instilled a love of travel in our dogs. They truly seem to believe that the car is a magical teleporter. They get in at one place and get out somewhere else — and it’s always the best place. Over the years, our canine companions have learned to sleep in a tent, in the trunk, and on camping chairs at our bivouac. Frost doesn’t scare them, nor prickly forest needles, nor the pounding silence and absolute darkness.

Edit 23.03.2023

Today, the darkest scenario of a two-month fight with Minos Jurek’s sudden illness came true. He fought bravely until the very end, and we held his paw until the last moment. He wanted so badly to live — to run across the meadow once more and warm himself on sun-heated grass. He wanted to travel somewhere again, and I promised him one last ride, which he loved so much. I didn’t make it in time. I hope he is happy and carefree wherever he has flown off to — and that someone is constantly scratching him behind the ear <3
